Cashew nut history:

Cashew traditionally known as kaju has the scientific name Anacardium occidentale (family: anacardiaceae ; genus:anacardium). Cashew tree consists of a false apple. Under that false apple is C shaped nut that consists of edible kernel. Between the inner and the outer shell is caustic oil that causes blisters. Kernels are heated on high temperature to remove toxins. Therefore the cashews are always found with their shells removed. .And they are dried and then used. Cashew shells have phenolic resins that can harm one’s skin. Cashew apple and cashew nuts have great advantages. Cashew trees were first found by the French explorer in north eastern coast of Brazil. He saw that people used cashew nuts and its fruit for eating purposes. They also used that for other purposes. Later the Portuguese explorers spread that to other parts of the world including India and coastal areas. As far as their habitat is concerned cashews grow well in warm climate. Their habitat should be humid. It helps them in their rapid growth. Cashew nuts hold a top place in the list of other nuts.
